Sandeep was formerly a VMware technology leader developing next generation storage products and cloud services based on technology shifts in compute, network, storage, and emerging applications. His key areas of expertise are Distributed Storage Systems, Cloud Storage, Network File Services, Scale-out architectures for Big Data and Internet-scale workloads, and Emerging IO protocols for Flash, NVM, Shingled Disks. In his 15+ years of storage industry experience, Sandeep has been involved in successfully transforming technology shifts into enterprise products and services: storage-aware flow-control in industry’s first iSCSI appliance; the first commercial stream analytics product (now the IBM Infosphere platform); a model-based analytics planner for DR management; an exabyte scale cloud storage architecture; and several critical innovations. He has 31+ issued patents, 28+ publications in key systems conferences. Prior to VMware, Sandeep served several key roles as developer, Chief Architect, and Strategist at IBM Research, and also at IBM GTS where he helped define architecture for several Fortune 100 customers. At VMware, he was also the Technical Director, responsible for defining the strategy and advanced development projects related with the storage partner ecosystem. Sandeep is a regular speaker at several academic institutions, conferences, and industry expos. He actively mentors several employees, and also PhD and Masters students from several universities.
