As part of our Virtualization for HPC presence at SC ’10 in New Orleans, DK Panda gave a short talk outlining Ohio State’s work, which I captured with my new Zi8 video recorder. Panda’s group has been at the forefront of research in this area with a focus on enabling high-performance communication between guest OS instances. Their work, for example, on VMM Bypass [PDF] is particular interesting in that it demonstrates the feasibility of delivering near native InfiniBand performance in a virtualized HPC environment.
